Cheryl Susan Burnett

November 5, 1954 ~ August 19, 2020 (age 65)

Cheryl Susan Burnett lost her battle with pancreatic cancer and small cell carcinoma on August 19th, 2020. She passed peacefully at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City at the age of 65.

Cheryl is survived by her husband Brad Walraven, her three children Bryan Wallace, Kiesha Johnson, Steven Burnett, her step daughter Kelli Walraven, her brothers Kevin Morris, Bill Giles, Terry Giles, Robby Foster, Joe Springer, her two half sisters Sandy Hamilton, and Kimberly Napier and 9 grandchildren.

Cheryl was born on November 5, 1954 in Mangum Oklahoma to Zada Gayle White Hernandez and Jim LeHew. Growing up, she moved from Oklahoma to New Jersey, and then to California. She eventually made her way back to Oklahoma where she graduated from MWC high school in 1972. After her children were grown, she moved to Niceville, Florida where she lived for 8 years.

When she moved back to Oklahoma, she married Brad Walraven on July 14th 2014. After more than 30 years together, those of us who knew them best, knew it had been a long time coming.

Cheryl was always the life of the party. She lit up the room. Just to know her was to love her. She was loving, full of life, and always had a joke ready to go because she loved to laugh. And what an infectious laugh indeed. There was never a dull moment when she was around. She was a singer/songwriter, played guitar, and had many requests for her songs anytime there was a family gathering, (and there were many gatherings.) She was a force to be reckoned with when she was crossed, and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for her family because to her, there was nothing more important.

She went by several names. Friends and coworkers called her Cheryl. Her brothers and sisters called her Susan. Her grandchildren called her PowPow because that was one of her favorite phrases. My brothers and I just lovingly called her Mom. She will be sorely missed and remembered fondly forever.

There will be a memorial party in her honor at Arcadia Lake in Edmond Saturday September 26, 2020 at 4:30 pm. Located at the Central State Entrance, Osage Pavilion. All are welcomed to attend. There will be food, drinks, a slide show, music, and a balloon release.

If you would like to donate to the fund, you can do so via Facebook at the Cheryl’s Memorial Party page there will be a link to their Go Fund Me account.
