Clayton Eugene "Gene" Rogers was born April 8, 1939 to Alvin and Hildreth Rogers in Guthrie, OK. He went to visit his Heavenly Father on June 17th, 2021 after a battle with septic arthritis. He grew up and around Guthrie, OK most of his life. He graduated from Edmond Schools and after serving in the Navy for a short period of time, he returned to Guthrie, OK He worked at Furrow's GreenHouse, Wrede's Tire, Otasco, and then started his lifelong career at Mackland-Burg Duncan where he worked in the anodizing department until his retirement. He married Evelyn Louise Kendall on August 11, 1959. During his lifetime, he either self-taught or found someone that could show him the skills of a trade. He mastered the skills of carpentry, plumbing, electrical work and mechanical work. He worked on all his own vehicles, farm equipment and lawn equipment that was on the farm. One of his favorite past-times was welding. He built several trailers and built numerous items out of metal for the farm. He could often be found in his garage tinkering with his next project. Clayton leaves behind his wife, Evelyn Louise Rogers, daughter Deborah "Debbie" Smedley and husband Melvin, and daughter Christina Tillman. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Jared and Jason Smedley, Meagen Baumann, Maggie Barnett and William "Billy" Kelley and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Kenneth Rogers and James Rogers and 1 sister, Ida May Forsythe.
