Gale Wayne Mehler, 68, of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away unexpectedly on July 6, 2022 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He was born September 28, 1953 to Donald Eugene and Dorothy Mae (Hutton) Mehler in Blackwell, Oklahoma.
Gale graduated from Braman High School in 1971 then later graduated from Philips University in Enid in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology. His career was in the laboratory industry in Enid, Fairview, Guthrie and Oklahoma City.
In June of 1973, Gale married Helen Hessel and raised four children. With Gale you always knew where he stood! He loved playing family poker for “bragging rights” and insisted no food at the playing table, not even ketchup. Lake time with family meant extra naps. Family events, no matter how large, included Gale making biscuits with sausage gravy for breakfast. His advice to his children and grandchildren was, “Don’t be too serious, be happy, but still be thoughtful.”
He is survived by his wife, Helen; his daughters, Patricia Wiggins, Jolene (Brandon) Aitken and Janet (Joseph) Bales; his son Kevin (Kassi) Mehler; his grandchildren, Kayla, Amber, Annabella, Andrew, Graham, Bentley and Bayley; father-in-law Wesley Hessel; his sister Donna (Dean) Campbell; brother-in-laws, Raymond (Susan) Hessel, Gary (Kathy) Hessel, Marvin (RaDonna) Hessel; sister-in-law Sharon (Lee) Smith and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Ruby Hessel, son-in-law Terry Wiggins and nephew Travis Campbell.
